Project

Objectives

The project EE4M addresses the tremendously increasing need for training, re-, and upskilling of engineers in the entire mobility value chain from raw material to recycling. In recent years, the mobility value chain in Europe has been significantly influenced by a multitude of hyper-dynamic factors, like changing consumer behavior, disruptive technologies, the need for decarbonization initiatives, hyperlocal mobility, etc. which leads to the fact that the professionalization of engineering education is indispensable to the long-term success of the companies concerned. The intended EE4M project focuses on the professional development of green and digital competencies of engineers in the mobility value chain through innovative vocational educational online/hybrid/blended and/or on-site modules/courses supported by a transnational platform between Austria, Greece, Italy, and Spain. The innovation of the project can be explained by the fact that the entire value chain in the mobility sector serves as the basis for the realignment of engineering education to create requirement-orientated competence profiles. Contributing to social change is the focus of the project.

The overarching research question of the EE4M-CoVE project can be formulated as follows:

How can VET engineering education contribute to the acquisition of knowledge and competencies needed for the transition towards smart and sustainable operations management in European manufacturing companies?

The general objectives of the project are:

  • Development of European Vocational Education Training (VET) platforms for the (trans)national realignment of engineering education.
  • Empowering the transition towards smart and sustainable operations management in the mobility value chain by fostering the skills of the engineers of tomorrow.
  • Competence-based teaching and learning concepts for IVET and CVET learners and teachers to contribute to economic, ecological, and social well-being.
  • Fostering (trans)regional skills ecosystems through knowledge exchange within the knowledge triangle on the established VET platforms throughout Europe.
  • Establishing and continuously developing professional teaching and learning environments for VET engineering education on EQF levels 4-8.
